Behind the Habit

I’m Cameron Freeman, and golf is more than a passion—it’s my pursuit, my obsession, and at times, my greatest challenge.

The Golf Habit was born from years of dedication, discipline, and deep respect for a game that has given me just as much frustration as fulfillment. It’s not just a name—it reflects the lifestyle, mindset, and daily commitment that golf demands.

At its core, The Golf Habit is a premier training facility built to serve golfers of all skill levels—from absolute beginners to competitive players. But more than that, it’s a community. A place where players come not just to train, but to connect, improve, and share in everything the game has to offer.

My mission is to pass on the knowledge, techniques, and insights I’ve developed throughout my career to help every player grow—physically, mentally, and strategically. Whether you're working on fundamentals or refining advanced mechanics, I’m here to guide the process with purpose and passion.

At The Golf Habit, we don’t just play—we practice with intention, we learn with curiosity, and we compete with heart.

Who am I?

I was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado, where the values of hard work, integrity, and community were instilled in me from a young age. I attended Rocky Mountain High School and later continued my education at South Mountain Community College (SMC) in Arizona, where I balanced academics with my passion for sports. Growing up, I spent my early years working alongside my stepfather, Doug, at his long-standing and successful autobody shop in Fort Collins. That experience taught me the importance of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and perseverance—qualities I carry into my work as a coach. My mother, Teresa, has always been my biggest supporter. From driving me to countless sporting events as a kid to cheering me on in every endeavor, her encouragement has played a foundational role in my life.

Today, I consider myself a laid-back, grounded individual who values balance both on and off the course. I spend my time with my wife, Milena, our son, Diego, and our beloved dog, Divot. I'm a lifelong sports enthusiast, avid movie lover, and a big animal advocate.

Whether I’m coaching a client, enjoying a weekend game, or walking the dog with my family, I approach each day with gratitude, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the relationships and passions that define my life.

Coaching Philosophy

Golf is more than a game to me—it’s been a lifelong teacher.
It has brought me laughter and frustration, victories and setbacks, and most importantly, lasting relationships and invaluable life lessons.

As a coach, I don’t just focus on perfecting swings—I aim to deepen my students’ understanding of the game itself. I believe in teaching why we do what we do, not just how, so players can develop the awareness and confidence needed to progress with purpose.

My mission is to bring energy, clarity, and precision to every session. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, my goal is for you to leave each lesson not only better in skill, but more connected to the strategy and spirit of golf.

I currently coach players of all ages and skill levels, and I pride myself on creating a customized, results-driven experience for every individual. What sets my coaching apart is a relentless commitment to growth, a passion for the process, and a deep respect for the game and those who play it.

My Career

Junior & High School Career

I began my competitive golf journey at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, where I played four years of varsity golf. As a freshman in 2005, I won the Regional Championship and continued to post strong results throughout my high school career, including multiple top-5 finishes at regionals and several top-10 finishes in the Colorado State Championships as an individual.

In 2008, I was honored to represent the state of Colorado at the Junior PGA Championship, competing alongside some of the game's future stars—including Jordan Spieth and Lexi Thompson.

College Career

After evaluating several opportunities with Division I and Division II programs, I chose to continue my golf career at South Mountain Community College (SMC) in Arizona—one of the most competitive junior college golf programs in the nation, regularly contending for national championships.

While at SMC, I was part of a NJCAA National Championship team, which became a pivotal moment in my career. Motivated by the success and competition at the collegiate level, I made the decision after one year to turn professional and pursue golf full-time.

Professional Career

I spent seven years competing professionally, primarily on various mini-tours and in State Opens across the country. My professional journey also included attempts at PGA Tour Monday qualifiers, Web.com Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) qualifiers, and multiple stages of Q-School.

During my time on tour, I achieved notable success:

  • 2 Mini-Tour Wins

  • Multiple Pro-Am Victories

  • Consistent competition against top-level talent across the U.S.

Throughout my professional career, I had the privilege of learning from some of the game’s most respected coaches, including:

  • Lauren Howe, LPGA Professional

  • Stan Finn, elite swing coach

  • Dr. Craig Farnsworth, widely known as “The Putt Doctor”, who has coached over 150 PGA Tour professionals and helped elevate my short-game and putting performance to a world-class level.

This journey—through the junior ranks, collegiate championships, and professional tours—shaped the coach I am today. I bring the same intensity, insight, and love for the game into every lesson and every student relationship.
